Minimalist's guide to accessorizing. Easy three steps on how to make accessorizing super easy.Read More
Two weeks ago I had the pleasure of attending my first Style Collective event. I first heard about Style Collective last year and instantly fell in love with the company! I'm so grateful to be part of a community with like-minded creators that support each other!
This was my first blogger meet up, so I was a little nervous to attend. I have only been blogging for about a year, and with my crazy schedule, my blog has not always been consistent. But right when I walked through the door, all my jitters went away. It was so great to meet all the other members and share our blogging experiences over some yummy food and cocktails. The best part was there was even an amazing professional photographer (Shawna Henrie with Bleudog Fotography) there to capture the moments instead of us always having to be on our phones!
The even took place and the beautiful Mesa Restaurant in Costa Mesa. It was the perfect place for the meet up because it had a beautiful ambiance, great cocktails and delicious food! My favorite dish from that night was the pizza and the shrimp! If you ever have a chance to go, I highly recommend ordering either of those!
The icing on the cake of that evening was the goodie bags! I'm a huge sucker for goodie bags because who doesn't love amazing gifts! But this one, blew me away! It was filled with amazing jewelry, skin care products, cell phone accessories and even wine! I was lucky enough to take home a bottle of Middle Sisters pinot noir and these beautiful flower arrangements by Shawna Henrie from Bleudog Floral.
It was such an amazing event, and I'm so appreciative of all the relationships that I made through Style Collective. No matter what field of work you're in or what dreams you are chasing after, I strongly suggest joining a group of like-minded people to help encourage and inspire you!
Lastly I want to thank all the sponsors of the event for making our meet up so fantastic! So grateful to have so many amazing companies helping support Style Collective sisters!

I don't know about you, but shopping for my mom isn't always easy. In fact, it can be down right impossible. I'm good with knowing what practical stuff she needs/wants, but gifts are supposed to be fun not practical!
If you're like me, you are probably now scouring the internet for some great gift ideas. Something that will truly make Mom admit I'm her favorite :) But as I started my search, I noticed majority of gift guides out there suggested the same exact things!
So, I decided to put together my own gift guide with things that I think every stylish mom will love! Hope you
1) Custom Birthstone Necklace
Yes this is my design, but I promise it's not a shameless plug in! I purposely came up with this custom promotion for Mother's Day because I think it will be a great gift! It's on trend with the latest styles, made with the highest quality material and techniques, and it has sentimental value without being overly cheesy! Best part is that it's custom! You get to pick what metal and birthstones that make the necklace.
The options are pretty much endless! If you want the gift to be a reflection of you and your mama, do a mix of hers and your birthstones. If you want it to be with all your siblings, you can do a row with all your birthstones. Or if you want it just to be a reminder of you, you can do a row of only your birthstone!
Now doesn't that seem much more stylish and understated than the necklace that says, "#1 Mom"?

2) Tory Burch Fitbit
Fitbits are a huge trend right now, but they aren't the most thrilling of gifts. I wasn't going to even think to add this to my gift guide until I came across Tory Burch's Fitbit design. This was a game changer! It transforms that rubber band into a beautiful bracelet. You can hardly tell it's a fitness tracker! Have a stylish mom that is also a health nut? I highly recommend this.

3) India Hicks Scarf
To me, scarves are like jewelry- you can never have too many of either. And I am obsessed with the India Hicks designs. I just recently discovered this company and love all their products! THey have everything from beauty to amazing handbags. All her designs are elegant and effortless! My favorite of her prints is the palm, and the palm scarf definitely something your mother would love and constantly wear!

4) Fresh Perfume
This gift is for the stylish mom who doesn't leave the house without spritzing herself with perfume. There are a ton of great fragrances out there, but my favorite line is Fresh. Their scents are amazing without being too overpowering or smelling too much like chemicals. I also love how simplistic their fragrances are. This makes it much easier to pick out a scent for someone else. Have a mom that loves the smell of flowers? You can get her the Honeysuckle scent. Or does she love a great citrus perfume? Then you can get her my favorite Hesperides Grapefruit. I promise you this gift won't disappoint!
Side note: They also have make amazing candles if your mom prefers to scent up her house.

5) Statement Pearl Earrings
OK yes, this is another plug in for my company, but I think these earrings would make a great gift! Statement earrings are a HUGE trend this year, and pearls are so classic. These earrings are the perfect balance between trendy and elegant style. I promise you your chic mama will be wearing these on repeat!
You can check out these earrings by clicking here.
6) Gift to the Spa
I don't know one woman who doesn't love being pampered, so spa treatment gift always a great idea! Only downside, is there is no real gift for her to open, and isn't that supposed to be half the fun? I suggest pairing the spa gift with this Eucalyptus Shower Spray by Travertine Spa Collection. I'm obsessed with this product because it turns an ordinary shower into a Eucalyptus spa steam room. The scent is amazing and makes you feel completely relaxed right in your own home. It's also made with all natural ingredients!
You can check out the shower spray and more Travertine products by clicking here.
Anyone else have great gift ideas? I'd love to hear them! Only a couple more weeks to shop before it's Mother's Day!
Hope everyone has a wonderful weekend!
Choker necklaces are one of the biggest accessory trends happening right now. I will admit that at first, I was not a fan. Most of the styles out there reminded me of the plastic crochet necklaces I wore in 7th grade- a fad that I do think is better left in the past. But, I’m noticing that more and more jewelry designers are putting their own creative twist to this trend (including myself). Choker styles are no longer limited to black bands and leather cords. Now there are many different choker styles and even more ways to accessorize them. Here are a few of my favorite choker looks:
1) Statement Choker Style
One great statement piece is all you need to accessorize an outfit. It stands out alone but also compliments the ensemble. You never want a statement piece to overshadow a look, and this is why I love statement chokers! They are beautiful and eye-catching, but not overpowering. One of my favorite looks this year is pairing a statement choker with an off the shoulder top. There's an element of sexiness (for lack of a better word) to this outfit because the bold necklace accentuates the bare shoulders and decolletage. I especially love wearing this look on date nights or grabbing cocktails with my girlfriends. My favorite part about this look is the whole thing looks stylish and effortless. No one wants to look like they are trying to hard to fit in on a trend!
2) Minimalist Choker Style
I am obsessed with minimalistic chokers at the moment because they are so easy to wear and go with everything! They add a little extra bling to an everyday outfit, and they are so comfortable to wear that you will probably forget you are even wearing jewelry.
My favorite types of minimalist chokers are mixed metal ones, and I think this is going to be a huge jewelry trend for 2017. The contrast between silver and gold really makes a piece stand out. Take the heart necklace I'm wearing for example. The silver heart really pops against the gold chain. If the necklace were all one color, you wouldn't notice the heart as much. Mixed metal chokers are a great minimalist piece that will still make your outfit pop!
3) Layered Choker Style
There are so many style options when it comes to layering chokers. You can layer a bunch of chokers to make more of a statement look, or layer a couple pieces to be more minimalistic. In this pic, I decided to layer two simple gold necklaces to keep the outfit casual. Since my outfit was mostly neutrals, I wore a tiny garnet bar choker to add some color and layered it with a gold ball necklace for some extra bling. The look is very simple but still eye catching.
The best thing about layering choker necklaces is there really isn't a right or wrong way to do so. Have fun mixing and matching your favorite necklaces and playing around with different colors, textures, and shapes. You will soon find a match you love and continue to wear it all year!
Have any of you found a choker style that you love?
Dress: Astr/Handbag: Kate Spade/Shoes: old Gucci (similar)/Pearl Bracelet: Boy Cherie/Stacked gemstone bracelets: Boy Cherie/ Gold Rope Necklace: Boy Cherie (also can be worn as bracelet)/ Garnet Choker: Boy Cherie (Fall 2016 collection launching September 30th)
Just because Fall is around the corner doesn't mean you need to retire all your Summer dresses. The old fashion rule "no white after Labor day" is completely outdated. With the right accessories, you can transform your Summer wardrobe into Fall.
I bought this dress months ago, and only had the opportunity to wear last weekend. Since it's already September, I decided to accessorize it with jewel tone accessories. My prediction is that rich jewel tones will be really trendy this Fall/Winter. So I put on my oxblood studded pumps, stacked on a few gemstone bracelets, and layered a couple choker necklaces. I usually only layer longer necklaces, but since chokers are so popular at the moment, I decided to try it with shorter necklaces. What do you think?
As many know I'm a sucker for bright colors and bold prints. I think they are so much fun to style, but I know a lot people think the opposite and think bold prints are too daunting to pull off. So, I wanted to share my three styling tips on how I accessorize bold prints and bright colors:
My first tip is less is more. Your outfit is already your statement. You don't need to exaggerate it with big, chunky accessories. The bold print should be the focal point of you look. Take my look for example. Since the orange romper was the focal point to my outfit, I chose minimalist accessories- dainty jewelry, strapped stilettos, and distressed clutch.
My second tip is to think in complimentary colors when choosing your accessories. Just because you're wearing a bold color doesn't mean you can only accessorize with neutral tones. You choose accessories that are somewhat opposite hue (complimentary color) to your outfit. With my outfit, I wore a dainty, sea-foam green necklace to pop against the bright orange romper. The contrast between the two colors made the outfit stand out more.
My last tip is to be comfortable with your style choice. People can tell if you feel uncomfortable in your outfit, so be confident! Also, dress appropriately for the occasion. I know I sound like a nagging grandma saying that, but it's so true! This tip helps avoid getting unwanted attention and unnerving stares. I know my orange romper shows a lot of skin (especially paired with 4 inch stilettos), so I wear it out on date nights or drinks with my girlfriends. I would feel uncomfortable and awkward wearing this outfit out shopping or going out to lunch. So, the easiest way to feel comfortable with your outfit choice is to make sure it's the right for the occasion!
There are my three styling tips for bright colors and bold prints! Hope you ladies found it helpful, and hope everyone has a great weekend!
Sweater tank: Vici/ Jeans: J Brand/ Shoes: Valentino/ Clutch: Tory Burch/ Turquoise necklace: Boy Cherie/ Bracelets: Boy Cherie (preview of Fall collection)/ Pink Lariat Necklace: Boy Cherie (preview of Fall collection)
My apartment doesn't have any air conditioning because I live by the beach, and the last few weeks have been super hot. So lately Joe and I have been dining out instead of trying to cook in what feels like 90 degree weather. I secretly love Summer nights like these because it gives Joe and I the excuse to go out and have an impromptu date night. It also gives me the excuse to dress up and wear a fun pair of heels :)
I found this sweater tank top last week when shopping on my lunch break. I love this top because the knit is a little on the larger side which makes it slightly sheer but not overly sexy (perfect for date night). I also love the color. It's the perfect neutral beige tone. I knew I wanted to accessorize with bold colors to make the outfit more vibrant, so I layered my favorite turquoise necklace and my new hot pink lariat. I've also been really into bezel gemstone pieces and mixing metals, so I wore my new sterling silver bracelets. I love how the silver pops against the beige sweater!
Hope everyone has a great rest of their week! Can't believe Summer is almost over. My new goal is to go to the beach as much as possible before it's gone!
Blouse: Revolve/ Shorts: Levis/ Sandals: Steve Madden/ Turquoise Necklace: Boy Cherie/ Pineapple Necklace: Boy Cherie (Fall Collection)/ Blue Bracelet: Boy Cherie/ Green Bracelet: Boy Cherie/ Pink Bezel Bracelet: Boy Cherie (Fall Collection)
Living in a beach town, I'm always on the hunt for the perfect summer outfit- pieces that I can wear to the beach during the day and also wear to dinner and drinks after. This top was the perfect find! This Summer, you can never go wrong with bare shoulders and bell sleeves!
I stacked on a few dainty gemstone bracelets to bring out the colorful details on the embroidered sleeves. I also really wanted to wear my new pineapple charm necklace with this top, and decided to layer it with the Turquoise Kate necklace to bring out the turquoise embroidery.
This outfit will definitely be on repeat till the end of Summer!
Hope everyone has a great weekend!
I love wearing bold prints in the summer, but they can be a little tricky to accessorize. I usually stick with the "less is more approach" because I don't want to try and over power the print or look like a hot mess!
I found this adorable dress on sale and Anthropologie (they are doing an additional 30% off all their sale items). I definitely will be wearing this dress on repeat throughout Summer! It's perfect because I can wear it out to dinner with girlfriends or while I'm running around doing errands! I love clothes that are super versatile, and dresses are so easy because it's basically a complete outfit! All you need to do is accessorize it!
This dress already has such bright colors, I knew I wanted to accessorize it with more minimal pieces, so I picked my wire wrapped gemstone bracelet and my new Lapis Lazuli lariat necklace. This necklace is part of my upcoming Fall/Winter collection. So when I saw the navy hues on the dress, I knew it was the perfect opportunity to try out my new design!
Happy Thursday everyone! Hope you all have an amazing weekend!
It's always hard for me to find an outfit for the Fourth. I'm not a very festive person, so I try and stay away from stars, stripes, and anything American flag print. While shopping last week, I found this Rails plaid shirt and thought it would be perfect for the 4th of July weekend! If you haven't splurged on a Rails button up yep, I highly recommend doing so. I have never felt fabric so soft, and the shirt is so comfortable!
To dress this shirt up for the 4th, I accessorized it with all of my favorite red and blue jewels. Since the shirt pattern was already bold, I didn't want to go overboard with long necklaces. So, I decided to layer my garnet bar necklace with my lapis lazuli trapezoid one. The Lapis Lazuli necklace is one of my favorites because the gemstone is so vibrant. I love how it stands out against the soft blue plaid.
For my finishing touch, I put on my favorite bright red lipstick. I mean, you can never go wrong with red lipstick on the 4th, and it really makes the outfit complete.
What does everyone else have planned this weekend? Hope everyone has an amazing long Holiday weekend!
Who would have thought that a denim button up, a full A-line skirt, and pearls would go so well together! I was inspired to put this outfit together when I went to a charity event and saw a woman wearing a long printed skirt and chambray blouse. I thought the contrast of the elegant ball skirt and casual button up was so fun and unexpected! I instantly knew I needed to do a blog post about it. I wanted to play up the contradiction, so I accessorized the look with pearls. And to add a pop of color, I wore my new purple caged stilettos!
Hopefully in the near future I am invited to a black-tie/formal event, so I can wear this outfit again soon! If you ever need to feel like a princess, just put a ball skirt on :)
Hope everyone has a great weekend!
Blouse: Nordstrom/ Jeans: 7 for all Mankind/ Shoes: Gucci ( similar style & similar color)/ Handbag: Coach (similar)/ Earrings: Boy Cherie/ Long Necklace: Boy Cherie/ Double Strand Necklace: Boy Cherie/ Green Bracelet: Boy Cherie/ Light Blue Bracelet: Boy Cherie
When it comes to fashion, nothing is more basic than a pair of blue jeans and a white top. To me, this is basically a white canvas. What really makes the outfit stand out are the accessories- jewelry, shoes, handbags, etc.
A lot of the time, I accessorize with complimentary colors because, well, they compliment each other. For this look, I wanted to wear my oxblood Gucci pumps, so I added green gemstone necklaces to accent the shoes.
I also chose to go with a layered necklaces because the blouse had a low neckline. I think with low, plunging, and v necklines, layered pieces work best; whereas, statement and choker pieces go more with crew and high necklines.
Because the shoes and layered necklaces were the main focal point, I wanted the other accessories to be more demure. So I stacked on a few dainty bracelets and added gold marquis earrings because marquis shaped earrings go with everything!
Hope everyone is having an amazing week! I have a really fun blog post in the works for next week, so stay tuned!
Last Sunday I threw my lovely cousin a Sprinkle party for her expecting baby boy. Truth be told, I honestly didn't know what a "sprinkle" was till this year when both my sister and cousin were going to have their second babies. Turns out, they are a lot of fun filled with good food, some presents, and lots of girl time!
Sprinkles are a lot more casual than showers because it's the mommy's second time around, so they are sprinkled with gifts and love. Because they are a more casual affair, they are really easy to plan! I sent out evites to family and friends, bought adorable party favors at Sugarfina, and made lunch reservations at True Food Kitchen (one of my favorite restaurants in OC).
It was a perfect afternoon spent catching up on girl time and celebrating my cousin and her baby boy, Ryan. She also surprised me with a beautiful bouquet of flowers and the cutest thank you note.
For the party, I decided to wear white jeans and my new red lace top I bought from Zara. I think the lace and pop of red really dress up the outfit and was perfect for a sprinkle lunch! However, lace can be a little hard to accessorize since there is already a lot of texture and detail. I originally was going to wear a short, chunky navy gemstone necklace with the blouse, but it looked way too over the top! So, I stuck with my usual style, and I think the long blue Iolite and gold horn necklaces paired perfectly with the lace. I also threw on my favorite pearl bracelet to add an extra element of femininity.
Overall it was a perfect Sunday, and I can't wait for baby Ryan to arrive!
Hope you all have a wonderful week!
Memorial Day weekend was such a blast! On Monday, Joe and I spent the day exploring one of our favorite towns, Laguna Beach. I love Laguna because there are so many fun shops, restaurants, and rooftop bars right along the beach. We started the day having lunch at one of our favorite spots, The Deck, then took a nice walk along the coast.
Even though it was sunny out, it was still a little breezy. So I wore a basic white t-shirt and jeans. I also threw on this embroidered pink and blue tassel blazer to dress up my outfit. I usually don't splurge on super trendy pieces like this, but this time I couldn't resist. I have lately been on the hunt for a fun embroidered blazer, and am always a sucker for tassels!
I also really love the pink embroidery detail on the jacket, so I accessorized with all pink jewels- pink lariat necklace, delicate pink agate necklace, and magenta hummingbird bracelet. It's funny how I use to not be a huge pink person, but the older I get, the more drawn I am to the color.
I hope you all had an amazing Memorial Day weekend too!
Even though Memorial weekend starts tomorrow, it still feels more like early Spring than Summer since the weather is still a little crisp. I'm the type of person that gets cold super easy, so I've lately my go to outfits have been sweater and jeans.
This one is my by far my favorite. I've never been a huge fan of boyfriend jeans in the past because I thought they wouldn't really fit my small frame, but these 7 for All Mankind jeans changed my mind. They are lightweight, comfortable and still gives me some shape. Since the jeans are distressed and have a lighter coloring, I thought it would be fun to match them with a preppy vibrant blue sweater.
I really wanted to play up the preppy vs. distressed look, so I decided to accessorize with some of my more classic pieces- my gold link chain necklace and Victorian rope bracelet. I don't think you can never go wrong with classic jewelry. And to add even a little more sass, I slipped on my leopard pumps...I mean isn't leopard a neutral color after all :)
I hope everyone has a great Memorial day weekend!

Every girl needs a cute outfit for Sunday brunches, and I think I found the perfect one. The best part is that it's so comfortable, I feel like I'm wearing pajamas (minus the stilettos). I've been wanting to try the floral pant look for awhile, but I had a hard time finding a print that wasn't too bold and flashy. These pants have the right balance between bold, bright colors and neutrals. I am also in love with the high tie waist! I found the perfect light peach top to go with it at Saks Off Fifth. I usually buy all my nice silk blouses there because they always have such great sales.
Since this outfit was super feminine, I wanted to accessorize it with my most delicate and dainty pieces. I wore my favorite pearl earrings because pearls go with anything feminine! I also wore my Tricia necklace because I thought the bronze and rose beads would bring out the soft pink color of my shirt. I completed the look with some colorful dainty gemstone bracelets to bring out the colorful flowers on my pants.
I definitely will be wearing this outfit a lot more in the future!
Hope everyone has a wonderful weekend!
Top: Vici/ Jeans: J Brand/ Sunglasses: Marc Jacobs/ Heels: Jimmy Choo (similar)/ Clutch: Tory Burch/ Pink Victorian Bracelet: Boy Cherie/ Light Pink Coral Bracelet: Boy Cherie/ Light Blue Gemstone Bracelet: Boy Cherie/ Lotus Choker Necklace: Boy Cherie/ Pink Lariat Necklace: Boy Cherie
Last weekend Joe and I had to run a bunch of errands to get him ready for the Derby (yes he is going to the Kentucky Derby with out me.....sigh), and then after, we met up with some friends for dinner and drinks. Since I was going to be out running errands all day and going out at night, I wanted to wear something that would transition easily from day to night, and this off the navy shoulder top with white jeans was the perfect choice!
I decided to accessorize with mostly all pink jewelry to compliment the navy top. I layered my choker lotus necklace with my long lariat needle necklace to give a little extra dimension, and I also threw on a bunch of bracelets to add a little extra bling. One of my favorite pieces at the moment is my Victorian gemstone bracelet. I love the delicate filigree gold clasp and how soft pastel colored beads picks up light. I also stacked on a few delicate gemstone bracelets in light pink, light blue and grey to pull together the pink and blue color theme.
I will definitely be buying more of these off the shoulder blouses to gear up for Summer!
I hope everyone has a great upcoming weekend! Anyone else going to the Kentucky Derby?
I was getting a little bored with my wardrobe consisting of all neutral colors, so I decided to change things up a bit with some brighter hues. I'm usually not a huge pink fan, but I love the brightness of this blazer. It's also super easy to style with just a white blouse and jeans. And to add even more sass, I slipped on my leopard heels. I can't resist adding a little leopard to an outfit!
Since I had so much color going on with my attire, I kept my jewelry to only gold tones and wore my favorite tassel necklace and teardrop earrings. This was my first time wearing this necklace and earring combo, and I'm totally in love. It's a little more playful and bold than my usual style, but I think will be perfect for Summer date nights!
Hope everyone has a great weekend!
A few weeks ago, I went down to San Diego to go photograph my new Spring jewelry collection with the talented Luis Gonzalez. After the shoot, he took me to one of his favorite neighborhoods in San Diego, Kensington. Kensington is such a quaint neighborhood. Their main street is filled with fun restaurants, cute little shops, and it even has a cool bar, Club Kensington, that has been around for 80 years!
Since I was basically wearing all neutrals (black blouse and white jeans) , I decided to add a pop of color with my ox blood pumps and sky blue gold layering necklace. I absolutely love the contrast of colors. To pull the look together, I added on pastel blue and pink bracelets and lotus necklace.
Hope everyone has a fabulous weekend!
